i like to make beats using a drum machine my keyboard and samples, thing is i dont want to get involved with midi ,i guess im just a little hesitant about jumping into the midi world,so what i do is i record my drum beat my synth my samples through my audio card and loop em together in acid.personally i dont like acid as a program it seems cheesy,u have obey those stupid blocks , but it seems to be the only program i can use to do what i want to do,ive tried cakewalk home edition but it seems to be the same thing acid is actually easier to use so i stuck with that, can anyone help me out know any other programs i can look in too that i would have more freedom in without having to use midi, keep in mind im running win 98

Home edition is small. You need to check out Pro Audio or Sonar from Cakewalk. It's always been my preference, but there are so many others out there. I know what you mean about those "blocks". In Sonar, they have them, in Pro Audio they don't really look like blocks though.

what i want to accomplish is layering drum patterns synth and samples that ive recored in mp3 or wav preferbaly mp3 and sequence them how i want,i can do that in acid but it sucks because if i cant get shit to fit exact like i want to hear a certain sample right after the synth is over and it doesnt just happen to fit right in those blocks i have to speed up the bpm of either the sample or the synth and that blows, what u think

I think that doing all that would definitely kill the creative process. Has to be an easier way.

You are just basically outgrown you setup, time to hop on to something a little bigger and professional.
