knowledge of drum programming!?!?

ok
does any one else do this?
sometimes i quantize the snare in 1/4
then drop the single kick which drops on the 1 count on 1/4 sometimes
then when im filling in the kick i sometime play wit the quantize from 1/16 to 1/32 or even 1/64
i notice when i put the snare at 1/4 it kinda separates it
it kinda give it its own pocket but when i drop the snare on a 1/16 it sound everyware
any one with drum programing tips come threw share some knowledge!!

add a little shuffle or swing to it and it gives it a bouncy live effect!
but dont add to much!
im still a fan of just get them drumz raw and use no quantize!
i like the drumz to have a live sound or swing to them!
sometime the quantize does to much

i ususally do a mixture ... it really depends on the mood of a track... sometimes my quantization is all over the place... i might have the kick at 60% swing, the snare at 53% and the hh unquatized or any combination of the above. some trax u want that robotic feel and some u want a loose feel. it just depends. many times I just dont quantize at all. again it depends on the feel im tryin to create.

Most definitely agree with the "MOOD" comments, playing with the level of quantization gives the drum program it's groove, just like Ash Holmz said, it depends on the "feel" that you want to give the track...

Another tip, read up on this:

Syncopation is used in many musical styles, including classical music, but it is fundamental in such styles as reggae, ragtime, rap, jump blues, jazz and often in dubstep. In the form of a back beat, syncopation is used in virtually all contemporary popular music.

And my last tip, play with the velocity of the notes. While the quantization levels give the program it's groove, varying velocities give it the SWING or "Humanized" feel... FL Studio has some "Humanizing Presets" that you can "dump" in the piano roll after programming say some hi hats and it will change the quantization and velocity of the notes automatically, it's cool to check it out and learn from it... but do your own variations with your tracks...
