shits got pretty much every thing u ever wanna know about the wu on here, everything from how they revolutionized the industry to how they were/are affiliated with the infamous gambino crime family! heres a little tidbit i didnt even know about em

Mase

After badmouthing Wu-Tang at a concert, Bad Boy recording artist Mase had a run-in with Ghostface and his entourage at a club in New York City. There was some sort of physical altercation between Mase's and Ghostface's camps, and Mase left the incident with a broken jaw. Kanye West is among several rappers who have made reference to the incident, on his song "Through The Wire" "...If you could feel how my face felt/ You would know how Mase felt..." In a freestyle by Shyheim, he also referred to the incident with his line "The Empire State, where Ghostface retired Mase"

In the June 2007 issue of Hip Hop Connection Magazine Wu-Tang affiliate Cilvaringz stated that Ghostface had in fact done time in jail for "beating up" Mase.

Interesting. I never knew about any of that. I never really made it past Brooklyn ZOO. A couple of Ghost albums. Gave up on Meth after Judegment Day. I was into Wu before they turned into a huge corporate machine. Nothing wrong with getting paid. I just got turned off to them because of some people around me that were getting Wu Tattoos and stuff.

Ghost actually spit a song about it on "Malcolm" off his 2nd album (Supreme Clientele).

"Ayo I champunched Mase in his face over some bullshit the other night then kidnapped his brother pokin him w/ knives it's raining, 85 degrees kinda muggy. One of dem nights you throw on that face, it's real ugly..."

Wu Tang Clan aint nothing to f wit! LOL but naw either people will understand them for what they are, give em their props (if not they are in serious denial and dont really know much about the artform and wont)....aside from that, what are the chances of a crew hooking up with that much talent in one camp...ever...production, lyrics, entire marketing of the WU clothing, etc...absolutely cult following, I been down with the Clan since i can remember also.

Isn't this thread about nine years too late? I can't think of any rap group that is more well known.
I'm hopeful this record wakes people up and brings back some grimey ass hardocre shit (and not that clean synthy poppy shit).

Thanks for the link, up until today I had no idea who they were!

But yeah, should be good, providing RZA sticks to his sound from the start. It would also help if he used the gear he had back then, then we'd really have something to listen to.

wow, didn't expect that, that's cool, I got a lot to do today anyway, so good thing not to get caught up in some fucking retarded flame war (although it does keep things interesting around here)...

Anyways, the general thread is righteous, Wu Tang is a fucking incredible group, and RZA is one of the greatest to ever touch a sampler. I met him in Brooklyn at Beat Street a few years back, and he's a cool MF. I'm glad they're putting out some new shit, and I'm honestly hopeful it's some real raw hip hop...
