Low Bass when sampling from vinyl???

Hey everyone, I recently got my numark tt-200 turntable to sample from some of my old records.... as far as i can tell its working perfectly i have it running through my phono pre-amp into my audio interface and its all grounded nicely no buzzing or anything...

The one thing im not sure about though is the bass thats being played back from the vinyl, there seems to be very little low end, I ran a test of 2 songs that i also have in mp3 format and low end was definetly a lot more prominent on the mp3's... is this normal for vinyl or is there something wrong... can some one experienced or someone that has experienced this particular problem plz help me out? ThanksIA

Don't just rely on the sample....get your tweak on!

From my experience depending on how old that song is, and the condition of the vinyl, it is in fact normal. You have to tweak it with your eq and maybe some compression to boost the low end. You may even want to duplicate the sample track and lo fi it to get more of the bottom end, this way you'll be playing the regular sample on top of the lo fi duplicated sample track. This will bring out the bottom and enhance the sample...it'll make it bigger and more full. Try it out!

I have a numark CC1 cartridge brand new says the freq. range is supposed to be from 20-20k hz
so i don't think its the needle itself

Thanks for all the insite though everyone, drama ur right because i tried some later vinyl i had and the bass was definely upped a lot. Oh and thanks for the tips too drama, about bringin it out with EQ i felt stupid that i didn't think that right off the bat lol... seems obvious...

If any one else wants to leave comments to help out though it would be greatly appreciated.

lol..no problem...u were concentrating on your turn table. That happens when you're messing around with something new....everything else goes out the window. Good luck!
