Here's a list of players that really impressed me during the first half of the season:

-ALLEN IVERSON:

The NBA's leading scorer again. He carried the team on many occasions. Still the Sixers are a middle of the road team and his FG % could be way better.

-KOBE BRYANT:

Say all you want, he's one of the best shooting guards to ever play the game. The Lakers are doing much better than everyone expected. Much like Iverson, his FG% could be better.

-AMARE STOUDAMIRE:

His game really improved and now he's one of the most dominant big men in the league. Not a great rebounder.

-LEBRON JAMES:

Wow ! I can't believe a 20 years old can play so well. Extremely versatile. Reminds me a lot of S.Pippen.

-RAY ALLEN:

His game is smooth as hell. One of the last pure NBA shooters. FG % is down this season.

-DWAYNE WADE:

Like Stoudamire, he really improved. Very athletic and versatile for a PG.

-SHAQ O'NEAL:

He's getting old, but still is the most dominant center. With Wade and Shaq healthy, Miami can last during the playoffs.

-GILBERT ARENAS:

So far , the Wizards are one the biggest suprises of the league. Arenas is a great scorer, tho his shot selection is sometimes suspect.

-TIM DUNCAN:

His game is UGLY, but extremely efficient. The Spurs have the best record with minimal talent around Duncan. nuff said.

-STEVE NASH:

Great passer, makes his teamates better.

-SHAWN MARION:

Scores less than Stoudamire but is much more versatile.

MY PREDICTIONS:

The Spurs or Suns will probably clinch the best record at the end of the season, so I'd say either DUNCAN or NASH. LEBRON is a legitimate candidate, but I just don't see someone so young being MVP.

if the season ends right now i would say that Duncan and Nash are one and two respectively. A week ago, Nash would have won it hands down. He's shown that he holds the suns together because when he's not in the lineup they cant win. 6 straight losses! talk about bad luck eh?

my pick?? Duncan because he is steady. although his numbers are down from previous years, he doesnt have to score too much because Manu is killin' it and so is Tony parker.

And no i am not a SPURS fan. i hate the spurs. ima LAker fan to death but i am a BASKETBALL GEEK!

My favorite player in the league is Kevin Garnett, but from that list you gave I would have to say LaBron would get my pick. That kid is the truth and even if he dosnt get MVP this year, he'll defintly have a few down the road. I was watching Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State last night and I was thinking Lebron would just be a sophmore if he went to college, and know on on that court would be able to hold him.

Nice list.

It is really hard for me to pick because a lot of NBA players stepped their game up this year. At least I think they did. Someone was telling me that everyone is playing as good as they always have but since the Lakeshow is shut down, more players are getting more shine.

I think players did step it up because of what happened in the Olympics and how the climate is changing as far as how NBA players are scene by the general public. There is nothing in the league close to what Jordan was so I think players see that void and are trying to step in. We are getting 50 point games from players you wouldn't really expect it from.

I would pick Nash.

He ain't my favorite, but I read an article that showed what happens to the Suns when he is out the game and it is dramatic. They had the best record until he got hurt. Just watch one game and watch what he does. That is John Stockton the remix. You have to commit to Nash cuz if you try and guard the pick and role he will score on you. He has a jumpshot and a rainbow layup.

My personal pick is Iverson.

He is the most unstoppable player to me. Shaq put him in the top 5 of all time because other teams have to make huge adjustments when they play Iverson. But I don't think that makes you the Most Valuable. Sixers can win games without Iverson. Looks like the Suns can't win a game without Nash.
