Pattern Variations

How do u guys go about varing your drum patterns? I just noticed the Matrix sequencer you can add variation but dont know how to do it for drums, lol? I did use it for a variation on an instrument but i couldn't do it for drums any help??

use your ear.... usually i would try to add a fill, or liven up, or resolve a drum pattern during either the 4th or 8th bars, depending on the beat..... and also the drums for the hook and the verse might be different too..... if you're doing rap, just don't overdo it to the point where theres no consistent drumbeat if you know what i mean

Every 4 bars I tend to make a slight change. Even something small like dropping out the snare. I'm more of a tom roll kinda guy though.

Once I reversed all the drums every 4 bars. Didn't work out how I wanted it to but ima try that again some time.

is that a one bar slight chage or you go with the gange another 4 bars??

Every 4 bars I add a slight change for 1 bar.
