I love that you kept the jazzy/soul vibe of the source material. Where I went dark and gloomy, you kept it kinda bright and bouncy. The guitar line was a great addition. Sounds like you also layered sample chops - which takes a good ear and craftsmanship - so kudos on that. The juicy round bass was a good choice too. Makes me want to replace the bass on my flip.

The drums are great! I love those funk style, almost jazzy, breaks that feel like they're leaning forward the whole time. You took thins in an ambient, hyper chill direction that I didn't even think of. The processing of the sample, giving it that dreamy feel was very well done too. I'd like to hear the bass line a bit more up front, because the tone and the bass line are great! This kinda reminds me of Moby-Porcelain. I really enjoyed listening to this!

Dope flip! I do quite like the drums on this. They have that rugged and raw sound which goes pretty nicely against this sample. I think a little clarity and definition between the kick and bass would help a bit. Great use of the sample and the chops. This has a Nas story telling vibe to it...kinda reminds me of something on Stillmatic. That counter melody 0:26 fits the chops really well and I think it could even serve to be a bit louder in the mix. Overall, dope work man!

@kSm really dope flip, my only criticism is that the its a little muddy and distorted in the low end. As @BiggChev said a bit of clarity between the kick and bass could help. Some side chained compression and complementary eqing between the two would really help, maybe equing out some of the mud region in the bass around 300hz too

Yeah we've been kinda going in different directions in terms of vibe and energy. For the record, I like your more soulful stuff!
The second section was a bit tricky and wasn't happy with how it tied together with the first theme. I also wanted to layer some additional instruments but just couldn't seem to find the right key and instruments that fit. I probably should've spent more time with this, but it's all good. I just started tinkering around with a chord progression...hopefully I can get something together for this week.
