Its something that has always been in the back of my mind. From Beethoven to Run DMC, how do you learn how to make the right sound. People way back in the times didnt have online forums to help them in the processes of making there music, so my first question is: Since there was no "Official Manual" on how to make sounds sound good, do you think that the human brain has an inept ability for knowing what sound is supposed to be like. My thoughts on it are these: Somebody had to start some where, just the same as with Henry Ford and the automobile, so through trial and error, do we really need to rely on anything else but our own mind?

^^ Ahh philosophy... The answer is no. All you need is your own mind to make music...
Now that being said , thats only if you make music for YOU.If you want other people to like it then youll need to depend on others definition of "good" music.

I think the human brain does know what it likes, but that varies from person to person..I dont like some metal, to me some of it sounds like white noise..But there is an entire market dedicated to it ..so go figure...

To be a pioneer you would be doin somthing entirely different or a variation on somthin established that is before its time, meaning others dont get it in mass until years later...
Prince was like that ,he just did a variation on funk, soul and rock at a time when all those genre's were more or less seperate.

I understand what youre saying Relic, but I guess what I was really addressing wasn't the "type" of sound persay, but the indepth, intricate, parts of sound itself. i.e. frequencies, chords, times, rythms, compressions, mixing. I mean how did the FIRST people who made symphonies, know what the right number of brass peices in the brass section, or violas in the strings section, so-on and so-forth. THEY DIDNT HAVE MUSIC THEORY 101!!! So my question is, does every human mind have a section completely devoted to just sound. Not just passive, as in interprating sounds from nature into understandable neurological messages, but aggressive, as is, knowing how to REPRODUCE sounds with the perfect frequencies, chords, times, rythms, compressions etc...
