portable hardware

Greetingz peepz,

I want to move away from software and for now the only piece of hardware I have is the S900(it's great, by the way)
I wanted an ASR-10 because I like the things I read about it.
That's cool and all, but next year I am moving to the dutch-antilles for 6 months and will have no access to a computer.
So now I'm thinkin' that I could use something portable like a mpc1000, also because I think it could work wonders with my S900 before I leave.
But the missing features from the mpc2000 worry me.
So do you people have any suggestions concerning portable hardware I could use in my situation??
Bear in mind that I do also plan to use it when I get back.
Or maybe the mpc2000 isn't too big to take with me on a plane???

What missing features ?, read the specs mpc1k and gain some perspective on your setup...

ps: There are shoulderbags for the MPC2k's transport, certainly beats a flightcase.

How about your pc via USB, slice em up with recycle or whatever wav editor you fancy to timestretch.

besides... how of them mpc user's actualy uses timestretchin' and do you know how long it takes do timestretch 5 secs ?!?! You'd be friggin' happy to edit on a pc, it's a matter of simply working on a library befor you start fixin a beat.

Dude, gebruik je hoofd, iedereen lult hetzelfde over dezelfde gebreken maar weten nog niet eens hoe praktisch het aparaat uberhaupt is.

Dat begrijp ik, maar ik ga een half jaar geen beschikking hebben over een computer.
Timstretchen ok, maar samples knippen gaat misschien een beetje fokop worden

i had a question about the mpc as well

as far as the fact it dont timetretch

but ur right..i should pre chop and file my samples before seniding it to memory anyway..much faster and easier i guess

What's your budget ? My best bet besides a mpc1k would be MV8000 ( or the sp606 ) but I have very little experience with these machines.
