Me, I'm happy he's there, the Yanks need some pitching right now, and he's really the only available guy on the market.

At 25 million, the math comes out to $9000 per pitch!

But fuck it, at least we have an owner who loves his team and isn't afraid to spend cash....

when they induct him into the HOF, his cap should not be BoSox or Stros or Yanks or Blue Jays. It should just have a dollar sign on it. good for him though, i'm worried how the yanks are going to manage with that bullpen of theirs

desperate,,,i guess,,but yall spent a truck load on that jap kid, and he ain't doin that hot either man.

And it's alot for one dude, but in one month we'll have Clemens, Mussina, Wang, Pettite, and Hughes,,,damn nasty line up. That's why. Personally he aint worth 28 million, but he'll work.

im not gunan front ,if he came back to boston id be estatic, and boston made him a great offer from whut i hear, musta not been quite as good as the yankees, but even if he came back to boston, i know it woulda been for the money not for the love. the dood told the yankees hes was gunna retire and then up and signed with houston, thats just a scumbag move. i dont know how sum1 can be so money driven

BAD NEWS

the reason he chose the Yanks (besides the money) is because he's ready to go now. Both Houston and Boston wanted to wait until June to sign him. He wants to start playing by June. He's no savior...but like Stress said...that rotation (w/ everyone healthy) will be one of the best in baseball. It's a move the Yanks had to make.

idk about one of the best rotations the starters rarely get thru 6 innings...you gotta let time take its toll and see what thre really about....BECKETT LETS MAKE IT 7 BABY!!

Many of my friends do not like Clemens and don't consider him a true Yankee. I'm not too harsh on him either way, he went back to Houston for less money, you can't argue that. As far as his demeanor, a lot of pro athletes are like that (Randy Johnson / Curt Schilling to name two).

Keep in mind it's bigger than Clemens, team loyalty is not what it was thirty years ago, stakes are high, and the players (and their agents) get a much bigger cut and have an easier ability to negotiate and deal before commiting to anything.

One thing you can't be mad at though is that Clemens is getting paid. Two forces at work - one is the market rate, the other is the timing of the offer.

If Dre said I wanna sign you to aftermath for 15 million, however I can't bring you in until September, and Jay Z said he wanted to sign you to Def Jam for 12 million and you can start right now, what would you do? Would you say, I like Aftermath's music more, so I'll wait til September? Would you say "that's too much money, pay me $150 grand, that's enough"?

Don't get it twisted, the label or the professional sports team will take that money they pay you and make 200 million off of it. Better to see some of the earnings go back to the people that fill the seats (or write the music) IMO...
