does anyone has the Roland JV-2080 sound module is it any good i was thinkin about coppin one

I have owned a 1080 AND A 3080. You deff get your moneies worth with them. I sold the 1080 when I upgraded to a 3080 then had to come up with some dough so I got rid of the 3080. I plan on coppin again soon. I would go with a 3080 and up due to the fact that it has the XV sound engine and the SRX cards which are amazing.

that's because they have been discontinued.

Try your luck on eBay. the 2080 should go no more than $350.

Yeah i hear they have some great sounds. My boy(bhunt) told me to check out the 1080 when i was first lookin for a module. Not only him but a bunch of other people told me its worth every cent you pay.

does roland has good sounds I don't have a good budget to cop the fantom rack so imma loomk at the JV 2080

The 1080, 2080 are common studio features, there's always something usefull in there.

yes the 1080 and 2080 have expansion slots. THe 1080 got 4 and the 2080 got 8. the real problem is that the cards for those moudles have been discontinued. So thats why I recommend saving up a little mor dough for a 3080, I would avoid the 5050 and the 2020 due to the fact that you have to use the CPU for advanced editing which is a pain in the ass. but the 3080 and up you can use th SRX expansion card the same ones that are used in a fantom. Trust me on this I have had several roland moudles I know about the ups and downs of them.

the JV series trake the older SRJV cards. and the XV series takes the SRX cards the wacker cards for the older racks are like 100 but the coveted keys of the 60's and 70's card is over 200. the new SRX card are like 200 new, but offer double to triple the sounds and have the older sounds and newer waveforms for you to freak.

Naw sweetie they are like expansion cards so u can add more sounds. But the 2080 will get the job done for you or even the 1080.

Go with the XV-5050, its the module they released after the 3080 and 5080, but before they dropped the Fantom XR. They're discontinued, but you can find them for like 300-400 used. That's pretty much the same as what you'll pay for a 2080 or a 3080.

No you're thinking of the 2020. You can edit the 5050 from the front panel.

on the 5050 most heavy edition option are on the CPU also. You can do a few things on the front panel with the 5050 or 2020, but heavy edition options are done on teh CPU. I have owned a 1080 3080 and 2020. I'm gonna get another roland module when I get my paper up I really liked the sounds.

I sold the 2080's when they came out in '96/'97. Fred Hammond (Gospel cat) bought the first one in the store and a few cards from me, he kept several 1080's and 2080's in his studios. We kicked it about the 1080 and 2080's and came to the conclsion that, back then, there really was nothing to compete with it for the price. The sound quality in them is excellent, but you really want to get a couple of expansion cards for it. The "Keys of the 60's and 70's", "Session", "World", and "Vintage Synth" cards are probably the best to grab. The "Key's" board has all of your Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Vox, Farfisa, and other vintage electric's on it and their playability is pretty much perfect. The "Session" card has an excellent Grand Piano sound on it as well as some other good sounds. Vintage Synth has all of your old ass analog boards on it, and World gives you your "ethnic" instruments.

For what they're going for nowadays, it'd be silly not to cop one.
