Been neglecting Showcase for a minute focusing on Beat Fights and Warzone...
@DJ Excellence - great remix! I love that vocal sample. Would like to hear the drums and bass a bit more prominent in the mix. Even still, I think they still fit the overall vibe. When you have a vocal sample and rappers, I think a strong rhythmic anchor becomes more important - hence why I'd like more prominence in drums/bass. Regardless, a dope remix as always!
@P.A.T. - Another banging orchestral beat! The short strings and the glissando/arpeggiated harp in the back are super dope. Sounds like a filtered break of sorts in there too. Like how that adds an extra texture that fits really well with the orchestral vibe. I thought the high horns layered on the slow moving low horns was a genius touch. A solid breakdown or B-section and this is a very complete banger. One of my favs from your recent stuff.
@JECHO - We chatted about this on the Discord; you're on a great run right now. I like the concept of these weekly beat tapes to stay active and to stretch your creativity. The first beat is probably the most 'conventional' hip-hop I've heard from your. Drums go hard on this. Same for the second beat...the chopped/screwed/reversed bit at the end I could go without, but creativity points for sure. I like how this plays like an album...there's a journey/story in here. very dope!
@Kane the MOD - love me some Rickenbacker bass! I like how you went up a register on the bass...that's something I'm always a bit wary of doing, but you pulled it off nicely here. One critique, I think the bass could use a
bit of processing - slight saturation/distortion or creative EQ. At some points it sounds like you just stuck with the stock preset. Which is fine, as it fits and serves the piece as a whole. I like the little fills and cymbals scattered through. It gives the beat a spontaneous feel. Strings and pianos are dope. I like the mellow vibe of this beat!
@Sole Element - loving the sweet serene vibe of this. Very chill and breezy. I won't comment on the lyrics, as that's not my area of expertise, but the flow fits the beat nicely. As does the singing part. This gives me 2000s crossover commercial song vibes. Pretty cool!
