Sonar 4 - MIDI to Audio

How do you convert MIDI data to Audio so you can export it and still be able to hear the MIDI sounds?

Click on the MIDI track (don't highlight the MIDI clip), then go Edit > Bounce To Tracks. Then it will transfer it to audio on a new track. Make sure you Solo the MIDI track too, or else you'll get everything on the new one.

It comes up with an error saying that "The specified selection did not contain any audio data. Please ensure that the selection contains the audio data you wish to bounce." Also, I'm using hardware not software.

Your question is confusing. MIDI has no sound. I think what you wanna do is export an audio track created from your MIDI data. Your MIDI data has to be triggering a sound/sample etc then you jus export that track as audio.

Don't highlight the MIDI track, just click on the left side like this:

I had the same trouble when I first used Sonar but that's when I realized I was also clicking on the clip, I can't see why it wouldn't work but let me know anyway what happens.

Are your settings correct under Options? That's the only other thing I can think of. Also, check the manual, they also give a detailed explanation. If you search for "audio clips" or "bounce audio" I think.

I'm positive that all my options are correct unless I missed something that I don't know of.

well as we all know midi doesnt carry sound,so if you are recording frome motif,fantom,triton,then you need to record the loop to a audio track.if you are using the rewire or some soft synth then you need to : Highlight the number of bars that you want to bounce(eg. you want 50 bars highlight from1-51) and then bounce all the parts you want,mute what you dont want bounced.

I'm using outboard gear. M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 and Motif Rack.

I had all my routing with my Keystation, Motif, and EMU wrong and some the settings on my EMU weren't right so I fixed those and it worked. Big ups to you Fade for trying your best to help me out. Now I can finally get my first beat out to you guys. Peace.
