Sound Forge Monitor Problem

I hope someone can help:

Rescently, when I record in SF and check the monitor box, the audio I play (for recording) starts echoing like crazy. If I uncheck the monitor box it's fine, but obviousley I cant monitor the volume its recording at. I think I've tried every setting possible in SF8 but with no joy. I think maybe I have changed a setting outside of SF8 app, but cannot think what. Anybody got any ideas? I will be very grateful.

Just worked it out - in preferences (audio tab), had 'Monitor audio input while recording' checked. Unchecked it and its aite now. Cant believe I missed that before!
