Ok people I currently have a m-Audio USB moblepre its an alight 16-bit card.. But I'm looking to move up!
I want to be able to use protools and I kind of want it to be an external device.. But if not then I can work around that.
I'm purchasing a Fantom x6 and I had the Mbox in mind for the sound card but many people say go with a Delta 1010 , Motu 828 or FireWire 410.. I'm looking to stay under the $499.99 price range..
How important are in/out ports.. Many people were complaining about the Mbox having so few.. I'm really stuck here and I need help!

I will be using this sound card for rap/R&B vocals I don’t plan on connecting a guitar or nothing acoustic.. And I cant see a reason to need more then 2..
Please help me decides on a card and explain to me why I would need more in/out puts..

man 192khz is something very few people ever use (some dvd audio would be done at 192khz that's about it)

i still run at 24bit 44.1 (sometimes 88.2 when tracking and then dither to 44.1 for mixing as my computer can't handle the strain)

the thing about higher bit rates is on cheaper cards less of the audible spectrum will be effected by filters (used to cancel a digital noise generate by the conversion process at half the sampling rate)

i.e at 44.1 your sound will be effected alot more than at 88.2 so if the analog circuitry in your converters is shit (also spec wise the specs on cards given are often for the converters themselves and do not take into account the part played by the analog circuitry.... weakest link everyone !!)

i use the digital option on my isa 428 to track and it is quite good but at 88.2 the difference is quite huge (especially using highend mics etc)
