Damn....if it's really that bad I can see why there's all the hate but the question remains... Is it the dirty souths fault? Does anybody from the south control New York radio stations? Are the hip hop heads going about this in the right way? Will the constant attack on the ATL and the south solve this problem when you might have an entire generation of kids right outside your front door that know nothing but ATL/dirty south music? WOW!

I would really like to know (since I'm down here) is it that bad up top when it comes to what you hear on the radio? And are there any other efforts going on besides beefing with the south to at least even the playing field?

I personally still love New York hip hop....(always have...always will) and I'm a firm believer that if you don't know where you came from, you can't know where you're going! Can we as a hip hop community do something constructive to solve this problem rather than beef? I would love to collab with dudes from right here on ILL on songs and tracks. I know I'm one of very few dudes from the "deep" south affiliated with this site but damn.....I'm willing to work with anybody from anywhere. I just think that the fight is being fought on the wrong front. Dudes like Havoc should be converstating with say "OUTKAST" and trying to do music instead of spittin' venom and basically wishing for the souths down fall. That shit is just not cool and is definitely counter productive!

Holla back man..this shit is getting crazy....every magazine...every site...it's all the same message. It should not be at the point where New York acts don't even book shows in the A. I for one would support Mobb Deep and any other group I like that performs in my city.

yes it is , I was pissed as hell when I went to atlantic city and it sounded like I hadnt gone anywhere after braggin that we were gonna here that real ny hiphop...

I blame clear channel yada yada..but for real it really is that way..

ATL is the shit ..I love it and yes Havoc and outcast would be some cool ass shit..
Dont know why its that way...

But I would guess that outside of outcast no one really says shit thats really realness..
At least that I can relate to unless its underground.

I really didn't know it had got that bad. I remember when I was in the Army and stationed in Maryland. Me and some catz use to go to Jersy and NY just to sit out in the park and make cassette tapes of the radio shows.....things have really changed.

no I mean it doesnt... I do work with cats from around the globe thanks to here so I really dont feed into it in my personal world but , ....Im sayin...I love the south live in the south but what has sprung up in "general" I dont think is all that..
I would say the good thing in "general" beatwise is that cats got off of samplin (cuz we aint payin for that lol) and did some original beats... Its the mc's that I dont like..

It can be done but in the mainstream its all about money yada yada and not really the music, the artists in the south ...at least around here imo suck... I like some of it , but I mean why keep saying the same dumbass shit every song ..as if it were a new song....with the exact same subject matter.
It like as if stephen king wrote the shining over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over..under different names, with different publishers with different covers, and switching up the style and words everytime...but the same shit....

Other than going about your music the way you are now...are you personally doing anything musically to reach a happy medium. i.e are you working with some down south artist that you "like" to try to push them to the for front. a general productive soultion....the execs need to start giving other artists out the south a better shot... the south has a rich hertiage and there are alot of cats back home with alot more to say (that dont have the a lil in front of their name)... Hell the south is the home of black culture in this country... Period....

What im doing personally...shiiit... where to start...

--i make beats write songs that are geared towards artists with something to say... I try(keyword try) to shop these tracks to southern artists I respect....

--Im a proud southerner myself so i feel any success i have is a success for southern hip hop casue thats what i came up on and its what i consider myself apart of (contrary to what you might think)

--Our smashbrothers albums is a mesh of the NYC/southern style..and on this album alot of southern misconceptions are addressed..

I can go on but this aint a pat on the back contest... the point is that the state of hip hop in general is very stagnent... and alot of what havoc is saying is true to a certain point... either way a balance needs to be brought back to all of hip hop in general espically the south... alot of these cats are really coonin themselves out......(exit's to soulja boi)

The question I posed is something that I'm not just kickin the willy bo bo about. I feel passionate about this shit. You found the need to keep posting to the thread so I said ok fuck it...I'll try to have a real conversation with this dude since he wants to have his say in this. I have no preconcieved feelings about you and what you do. I'm seriously trying to see what I can do as a producer to possibly help kill the maddness without drawing lines in the sand like most are doing. ayo....the problem is I'm listenin to the same radio station that I grew up listenin too....they used to play Wu-tang, BIG and Nas joints on regular rotation. Now all they play is dat "Wipe me Down" bullshit. And a whole shitload of similar sounding beats and lyrics. They force feed you that shit (most likely cause they gettin paid too..) and the youth become hypnotized by the shit. It's so simple that it is easily accepted by the weak-minded. Hip Hop has been dummed down and it's disgusting. And I'm not tryin to single out the south...the bullshit is comin from everywhere. The solution....runnin up in ya local radio stations holdin sumthin.....and force em to play some real hip hop.
