The Akai MPD16 is great

I bought the akai mpd16 yesterday and I love it. I usta use the mpc 2000 some years ago, maybe 5 or 6 years. No lie, I loved it. The only thing I didn't like about it was the time it took to load sample, exspecially if you was using floppies. If you've never used the mpc before, you might not understand what I'm about to say next, and it may be hard on the ears of people who only use the mpc aswell. In FLstudio, you can emulate the mpc series almost all the way down to the bones. The only thing that I found impossible to do with FLstudio is Tap Tempo. However that are tap tempo program out there, but none that can direct link to the software and control the programs tempo by tapping. I've the people at FLstudio for this along time ago, but they said it wasn't a high priority. You really have to know the way that the mpc sequences and the different ways you can sequence in FLstudio. With the Mpd 16, that just added the finishing touch on emulating the mp. The pads are great, and they have some controls on it that you will find on a mpc. However, you don't need them using Flstudio, you don't even need to load stuff in the sample banks, If you use FLstudio, you must get a mpd16, it has better timing with than Keyboards which I have a Korg, and certainly better timing than using your computer keyboard, Just because you can trigger it more accurate.

Peace

whattup Kevin A!

Glad to see you got the MPD16 bro! As you know I've got one too and it's starting be a major part of my setup. Do you use it directly in FL or through a VST like Battery? Any other comments or tips?

holla!

I use it straight in fruityloops, I'm freaking it out to. Fruityloops can be a little confusing trying to figure out how exactly to get the sounds to the right keys, but I came up with some methods. I'm working on a tutorial on how to use fruityloops Like a MPC.

Inspectah, you can control that part from fruityloops.
you also do not have to load any samples into bank, Because fruityloops has the samples laid out in the channels. So you can adjust your pads to do one thing, and your channels to do another, and when you press the pad, it will do both.
The mpd has a software where you can set up your pads, and to what keys you want them to play, or effects you want on your pads.

Great, it a unique controller. I have a labtop, and this thing is small enough to fit in the bag. Studio in a Bag Boyyeee!
I can set up anywhere. Don't forget, exhibition starts tomorrow, check it out for tips in production.

Word, Kevin. I use a 2000xl , but i love freakin FL Studio on my laptop cause I can bring that shit with me anywhere, unlike the bulky-ass MPC. If I could see that tutorial you're talkin about then I would most definitely cop a MPD, nahmean? Where you gonna be postin it once its done?

I use a Oxygen 8 with FL now, but that bitch is hella large, plus I hate triggerin samples on keys. Gotta have the pads...

and you can use the mpc the same way as an mpd for fruity loops too right?

Not exactly Inspectah Wu, Fruity loops has more features than the mpc, and the layout is bigger and visual. All your samples & vst are at instant command. Fruityloops is a tool that can be used in different way. You can sequence 3 different ways in Fruity loops so far as I know. And then you can combine the sequence in a sequence. It's easy for beginners and versatile for masters, making anything possible. Don't get me wrong, the mpc does good on it's own, just check the industry, but with the mpd, I wouldn't trade my setup for their 4000 model, I have what everbody loves about the mpc, and that's the pads. If you took the pads off the mpc, and put it in a keyboard, I'm sure it would not matter if you had a asr-10, or a korg triton. Know what I mean.

Decepticon, I don't know when Imma drop that info, I haven't even written it up yet, I just do it. I was going to do something in the exhibition we was having, but the people in it aren't responding back through email. People like Wu

is it possible to link several sampler channels in fruity to one channel/layer/whatever it is called, so that i can tap in snares and drums at the same time? cuz the way i do it now, i do kicks, snares, hihats in seperate steps cuz fruity will only trigger 1 sample and at different tones, so this is useless. I know i can work around this with a software sampler, but i would be very pleased to do it with the fruity sampler. habits, you know?
