Im just starting to sample and wanted to know whats the process of taking a sample and putting it into production. Like give me a run through of taking the sample to getting it looped etc. Also how do producers that use soul samples get just the vocals onto a track. Any advice would help a whole lot. Good Looking Out.

I suggest you do a search, there are alot of topics of that nature on this site, and all over the web. Stop being lazy. Just like you search crates for sounds, dig for your knowledge.

in other words he's not gonna help you lol . He's right in that there are plenty of sources on the web that give basic sampling guidelines, but at the same time he asked the question here. I have no doubt this subject has already been covered here as well and will probably come up if he uses the search. then again, it may not. Whatever the case, I'll do my part to get you started. This is an EXTREMELY basic tutorial on sampling I made for total beginners back during the summer. I'm not even sure if the links to the files are any good because i never bothered with it after that. I basically took a well used and familiar break, sampled it and broke it into pieces. i then took those pieces and made two admittedly wack examples for demo purposes. Anyway, if you are just starting, this might help:

as far as how they get just the vocals from a sample, there are several ways. On a professional level itmay be possible to get the original vocal track from the master recording session. Onbviously that is more likely with newer songs but not totally impossible for all older songs. Another way is the most obvious, to take it from the acapella of the original if one is available. Most older songs did not release acapella versions, BUT every now and then you stumble across one (usually in the form of an impromptu live session). The third way i will mention is via filters. This takes some practice and rarely do you ever get a perfect ly clean sample but i have obtained some decent acapellas this way. often whatever remnants of other sounds remain blend into whatever music you place it on top of. Hard to explain in detail, but the gist of it is that you estimate what frequencies the voice lie at and filter out everything else. It';s pretty hit or miss but an option.

Hope it's workin out for you Young Casius, let us know and post something in the showcase as soon as your ready!
Also a good tip is if you have a friend making beats or someone you know, try and do hookup so you can chill at his place while he explains you the basics.. if he got msn or some other messenger application also try and hook that up..
it depends on the person how much you can bother him, try and estimate how much you can bother him without him getting irritated.
With direct and clear questions he will be more happier to help you than with vague questions.

And read a lot at the forums,
Good Luck
