Warzone Warzone Beat Battle - April 22-26, 2025

Congratulations @2GooD Productions! Your beat was my favorite in this Warzone!
Thanks.

@BiggChev I think I voted for your beat in every round apart from the finals, I like the amount of work and creativity that went into it. Not 100% sure if I voted for it in round one, but did in the others. I found it really hard to choose between you and @K-waz in round 1, I think the repetitive drums of K-Waz is what swung it for me in that round but cant remember now, I'm getting old and shit and that was fucking ages ago now.

@Armani had a standout beat for me, really liked that one. Maybe just not hard hitting enough for a warzone, but I liked it.

@Mike Chief Really liked the feel and vibe of your beat, beat goes fucking hard.

@prodCardellino Liked your beat, but I think your overcooked bass cost you in the end, I still voted for it anyway because I liked the beat despite the distorted bass.

Both @Bandia Gotach and @TWU had my timbers shivering, thought I might lose to both of them. Great mix @Bandia Gotach the beat reminded me of a beat Deez battled me with a few years back, he must have stole it from you.

@them was waiting for the beat to drop on this one, seemed like one long intro I was left hanging for the whole beat. Try to work on some progression and variation, it will work wonders.

@2GooD Productions congrats and I’m glad ur back.
Thanks, was just about to edit my post to mention your beat. A real throwback beat to the 90's, I liked your beat but I liked @Armani's a little bit more. Something about his beat that really grabbed me. I'm glad to be back. Been struggling to even get motivated for ages and when I did I was coming up with really soft shit.
Hopefully I'm out of my rut and can get back to kicking arses.

@Bandia Gotach

I really like the dark, ominous atmosphere you established early on with your beat. The sweeping filter on the main line around the 0:51 helped to add some dynamics. I would've loved a more dramatic change up or maybe a half time feel (although I'm not sure a half-time would work with a trap beat).

@TIDAL355

The drums on your beat were great. Dusty, crackly, boom-bap type vibe. The little fills were also great, they have a hard-rock feel to them which I really appreciate. Again, would've liked to hear a bigger change - with the atmosphere you built and the clever vocal chops, there is definitely another gear you could hit. Still, cool beat!

@them

I think it was mentioned, but this felt like a long intro. The piano chords, while a good progression, felt off timing wise. Add some velocity variations to the hats and it would add tons more groove.

@2GooD Productions

Fuck you!

No seriously, great beat, great groove and that bass line was filthy! Sounds like you layered a vocal sample under the horns? Very nice touch!

@Delta Skeltah

Vibe, groove, and texture is all golden era hip-hop...the shit that I love. The Intro was a cool decision, but with a limit of 2 mins, it may not have been the most "effective" creative decision. Lots of ATCQ vibes on this.

@CalvinCoolidge

Big bad ass horns will always grab my attention. That bass line is bad ass as well. The vocal chops give it a reggae/dub feel which I love. I can hear Busta completely blacking out on this beat!

@TWU

Listening to this put me in a time machine. This is golden era at its finest. While there are a lot of elements and variety of chops, they're pieced together incredibly well. The strategic changes and drop-outs add a lot of dynamics and keep it interesting to listen to. Mix is bang on. Not sure if that's side-chain or Mid-side EQ you're using, but it really lets the drums poke through.

@Armani

Harmonically, this was one of my favs. The way the winds, strings, and marimba/pluck play together is very symphonic. You took an interesting melody and added a ton of harmonic value to it. it has as Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A River feel. Dope!

@K-waz

I imagine Jadakiss going ALL THE WAY IN on this beat. To be frank, I thought I was getting washed when I heard I was matched up against this in round 1. This is a fundamentally flawless beat. Is this the second time we've been matched in the 1st round?

@WHAT1000

I mean this in the best way possible...this sounds like the token "joke" song from an Eminem album. The different chop patterns were a bit disjointed and I'd like to her them flow a bit more smoothly into each other. I really liked the second, busier, drum pattern.

@PhxAzTracmaster

Thank goodness you didn't use this beat in the Beat Fights challenge against me lol. This is one of the beats that felt the most like a complete song to me. The growly synth bass is a cool juxtaposition to the delicate, plucky melodies. I liked the chord progression and emotion of this joint.

@Iron Keys

Chops, drums, and bass line are all on point. I really liked that vocal chop - reminded me of some early RJD2. In fact this whole track had that dusty Def Jux vibe to it. Not surprised I lost to you in the 3rd round.

@Dusty B

You always come unique. I can honestly say, you're one of a kind. The big epic change around 0:27 caught me by surprise! I kinda wished you started off there, went down, then brough us back. The only realy critique I have is that the 3 main themes don't have a seamless flow - at least to my ears.

@Mike Chief

The drums and bass on this are fucking menacing! The pianos are wild too, but they tired me out a bit too fast. If this had a stripped back chill section to breathe out then come back in with the high energy keys, it'd be a contender to take it all.

@prodCardellino

Probably my favourite arrangement in the battle. All scenes flow well, and logically, into each other. The drum fills are perfect and serve the beat well. Changes, and doubles are very well placed and serve the wax and wane of the dynamic perfectly. The only thing I'd really change is the bass, or kick? There's a bit too much distortion/clipping for my taste. Shame you had to go against Iron in the second round...I felt your beat could've made it further.

ty @2GooD Productions, ty all, congrats to el winners (iconic winning lineup fr), gg wp.

@Iron Keys I had a feeling that was your beat. I knew I was in trouble when we were matched up.

Nice beat, brother. Well balanced well mixed well composed. My only "critique" is that it gave me vibes of sync music, for the background of a TV documentary or film - which isn't a bad thing, actually a really useful thing. But, it gave me less 'music' music vibes. Like 2G's maybe captured a similar vibe but more into the "this is a record" / music to rock out to vibe. If any of that makes sense. And like I said, quality work.

Thanks, brother --- you know, my mentor and other people have all made that reference... People been telling me the whole Jedi Mind Tricks, El P, Esoteric etc etc

Which is funny, because (other than JMT) I was never really a fan of that crowd, tho my best friend used to be big on it.

So kinda interesting how I've unknowingly arrived at 'that sound.'

Sorry @Iron Keys for firstly still thinking you made Dre beats, secondly for thinking you would overcook your bass, and thirdly for taking the win, my bad bro. I apologise.

I just wish you gave more heads up on your return, I knew a "2G return beat" would be getting an automatic W unless i bring a Battle That beat. Heard your beat at the beginning and knew it'd be the one, was low-key hoping something would randomly take it out in R2 or 3

Would have loved the Win for numbers, but I'm quite happy taking the 20 points

You have definitely upped your sampling game since I last heard your beats, I'm impressed.

Appreciate you. @Fade said something similar a couple of battles back like "didn't expect that from you" or similar. Not really sure what's changed about 'em, but pleased they're landing a lot better as intended.

Totally the response I was hoping for.
I'd call that a win. lmfao

As for my own beats, with the utter shit I've been making lately there really is no such thing as an automatic win any more.
People are bringing the heat and it really is a joy to see. I love a competitive battle, makes me try really hard, it makes me uncomfortable and it stops me being complacent.

That happened to me,

I made a beat that was like, it was "okay" but thought my okay is decent enough for here. Then when I heard it in context I was like, yeah nah can't be lazy no more.

So now my "okay" beats are ones I tried on but just didn't reach the heights. I'd call this beat in here an "okay beat"

Battling is a humbling and helpful thing, that's why I like to see the newguys hopping in straight away, especially if they then decide to stick at it. And the ones that love getting feedback

Thanks man! I kinda had "street fighter theme vs. Hans Zimmer score" in my head when putting it together. The general consensus last Warzone was that the beats were too "soft" so I wanted to capture a war movie type vibe. I know it was a bit left field for a hip-hop beat battle, buttons I figured let's try something different.

It had elements and a vibe that reminded me of one of my own productions, but better use of samples than I would do.
