What are these effects?

1. at 0:00 the first sound in the track is as if a dj stopped the record... this sound is on a lot of beats nowdays.....The record will stop but pick back up in time.....something I haven't been able to replicate using virtual DJ. If anyone knows How can I replicate this it would be greatly apprecciated

2. 0:01 the reverse voice getting louder effect? does anyone know how to replicate this effect on Reason

I'm pretty sure they are doing that by doing this:

Reverse the word(s) you wanna use,
add reverb to it,
then reverse it again.

In that song it's just the acapella that is being used to make that part.
Such a trippy effect! Can be a a lil difficult to put back in place though...
