Since I have been listening to so many records lately I have found an affinity in early jazz, muted jazz, and very early 1920's -30's swing and that era's "club" tunes.

These bonds will effect my productions in the future with-out-a-doubt.

What are some of your favorite era's in music & genres. And also, from head to toe have you listened to all the records that you own? I know I have not but as I have begun spending my time with my headphones on and my turntable spinning a whole new world has been opened up to me.

70s Funk and Soul & 80s House. Heavy Metal from the 80s through the 90s was pretty cool too.

Metal was the Shit during that time, it really was, lotsa underground shit too, but in general them cats were cool at one point, and right in step with the hiphop crowd eventually, those were beautiful times! All the best weed!

Honestly though my earliest years were formed by the Beatles, my dad was a junkie , and had "quadrophonic" sound, he would sit me in the middle of the living room and be like "Ok Jeff, watch this, the sound is gonna go from over there(left rear) aaall the way around the room to there(right rear).
I was buggin, or throw the headphones on and the same thing, or Hendrix has a record if you play it at 72 rpm, its a space battle, he turned me on to that.
Plus he worked in radio so we had alot of cool ass 60's and 70's records in my early days.
My parents also listened to ALOT of Motown. We were from MI so that was ingrained...
Thats my first shit... Then when I was 12.....
I was twistin the dial in '83 and BAM , ran right across Egyption Lover's "Eygpt, Egypt".
Everything started right there.I had never heard anything like it, immediately I wanted to make THAT, and everything like that.
But sorry thats where the hiphop kicked in..
I have been to symphonies and jazz clubs and known all types of musicians so its been cool...

Oh this one's easy. I love any Jamaican music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and some of the newer stuff these days... I don't have a massive collection like some people do... but collecting old JA stuff can get expensive, even with represses and re-issues, because no matter how complete your collection you think it is, there's always more. ALWAYS! Other than that I have small but enjoyable collection of jazz records I like to listen to once in a blue moon too.

1990's Detroit Techno and early '90's House. There's a few 80's pop songs I'll listen to, and a lot of 60's and 70's jazz.

Ol' school 60's motown, my pops used to get drunk in the basement listening to his old records every friday night. I learned to appriciate that music, when you really had to know how to sing to get a record deal.
