What is eveyrone opinion on this next thing..

Is it better to write the lyrics to the song first then find cuts and would fit the lyrics and scratch for the hook or vice versa find soem scratches and give the mc the intrumental with the beat and dj cuts for him to write the song..

Im leaning towards have the guy write his song then find the cuts but then again if you got realy good samples and scratch well it oculd dictate and give the mcgood ideas

using generic / sampled scratches would be your first and fatal mistake... that shit is beyond wack.

there are tons of hungry dj's just like there are tons of hungry producers - you can find scores of cats that would lay cuts for pennies maybe for free.

You can use generic scratches, nothing wrong with that. But sometimes it's better to find a phrase (or several) that is relevant to the song's theme. As a DJ , you need to have a good memory and know your records. I like to listen to my favorite hip hop records over and over, that way I can memorize more lyrics. My 2 cents..

I just hooked up a finalscratch alike system, just played a couple hiphop acapella's heard some sentences i liked and putted a hook togheter including the mixing and stuff, it matches the track recorded earlier pretty close.
But it depends on what you like, i don't have a problem with hearing fresh in a song unless the scratches are completely wack, because i know i would ahve done a better job myself. It's the same with beats if someone makes a crazy beat out of a famous sample, i wouldn't complain hey i heard that sample a dozen times, but if it's basic and i would have done it better i won't like it. But that's realy simple dissicion you got to make for yourself, depends on how good you are and how originial you want to be.

Here is it (It's kinda quickly done, but these guys ain't that good so i didn't had enough motivation to put in more effort.) http://incomingmc.com/marvin/Real Man.mp3
It kinda sucks the sample is diffring away with this system, it's minor but fatal to chirps and scratches like that, because you lose the start point of the sample. Wich is obiviously diffrent from real vinyl
