    if you are just downloading then you have to have what you want already in mind. personally i like to grab a stack of records, i have no clue whats on them, i listen to them all back to front. i get exposed to tons of music. learn from that music and find new things that i enjoy listening too...

    you just dont want to process things needlessly. each time you do that you will degrade the sound quality. it only will (most likely) process at 16 bit. its like multiplying and dividing a number that goes to 32 decimal places with a calculator that only has the capability to process up to 16...

    you get the buzzing out of your monitors or is it getting recorded along with your audio? do you hear the sound if your playing audio that you imported rather then recorded? do you hear it in any other programs? how bout if you turn off all your gear and record "silence"?

    adding reverb can also have the effect of pushing the sound further back in the mix.

    You could Bounce each part individually by highlighting, part by part, each song. Or you could use a cd burning program that gives you a waveform view and allows you to remove and add track markers. i use cakewalk pyro.
