    Pissed off beat maker

MPCs come with a CD with basic sounds on them but nothing internal. Syncrotech has a $40 multi reader I had installed on my XL. Go to www.midicase.com for info on installation procedures. Not quite sure on if it will work on a regular 2000 though.

    when did you start producing?

Started Dj'ing in '89 with 2 mix-match turntables, mixer and a house stereo, all from the pawn shop. Started making beats in '92 with a Tascam 4 track, Yamaha sampler, and Boss DR-550. Worked with local acts, nothing big. Gave it all up in '96. Started back in '02 with the beats and DJ'ing...

    Gospel

We got next! It's easy to rock a hip hop concert in a church. There are tons of cats who used to be hip hop artists and once their life changed, their content changed. If in the concert there was profanity and the 'video type of hip hop' then naw, that ain't happening. The fact is, this...

    Newmark CDX vs SL-DZ1200

THe CDX's are a monster to carry around. If you competing for Mr. Olympia though, it's not a big deal. LOL!

    Newmark CDX vs SL-DZ1200

Not quite. Again, feature-wise, it has all of the elements but one thing, a 12" platter. Unless you are using the CDX, it is like you are scratching on a 45. Not a big deal to new DJ's but to us old heads, it's a world of difference. I'm only a little biased, though. I had the denon...

    Newmark CDX vs SL-DZ1200

I got the Numarks and I've tried the Technics. As far as cutting and scratching and the so close to vinyl feel, NUMARK hands down. The Techinics feel is very loose and artificial. The only problem on the Numark is that there has been problems with mp3 playback and a long loading time, so it...

Using Control Surfaces with a DAW

I use a Tascam FW1884 and it works seamlessly with Sonar. I don't know what your $$ are like, but it definitely works for me.

    awful tunrtable buzz/hum

Grounded There should be a wire coming from the turntable, and a screw on the back of your mixer. That grounds the turntable and should cut the hum/hiss.

Alot of producers don't add cuts these days.

Hey Mr. DJ I still say the 'hook' killed the DJ. Everybody thinks that they have to have a catchy hook to make a hit these days. I still add cuts to most of my songs, whether over/under a hook, or I'll add a bridge and get loose. That's what cats look for when they come to me for beats, and...

    What mpc do you use?

2000xl w/8 outs, one of my partners has a 3000 and the other a 2000. I like my xl better because that's what I learned on. The group had a MPC 60 back in '97, but I wasn't making beats then and didn't mess with it.

    Interview with Buckwild

The thing is you may not know how to play a particular instrument but know the sound you want, you get somebody in who does, you are still the 'producer' of the track. Take Quincy Jones for example, he gets the producer credit, but doesn't play all of the instruments, he orchestrates the sound...
