    How Many Records you got?

I got four 5-tier bookshelves that hold roughly 200 LPs per shelf, and 1/2 milk crate of 45's. Three of the bookshelves are full and 2 shelves of the last bookshelf are full.

    What's your process

You gotta listen to the entire piece. Back in the day they had change ups and all kinds of solo's, you definitely are gonna miss something. Even if you get the bomb intro, listen to the entire song/album to feel the vibe of the track. You may end up using different parts from one song ala...

why do many established producers have 1 CDJ1000 (or similar CD turntable)

Yup, I tried them and a slew of my friends (longtime DJ's/Producers) have tried them and the general result is, Technics bascially got the lock on turntables, but in the CD arena the SLDZ's ain't it. They going by name only, and not too many people are feeling them, hence the big price drop...

    Digging: Crap/Jewel ratio.....

The thing you gotta realize is that you develop your sound continually, and what might not be tight to you or deemed usable at one time, you might listen to it months later and know how to freak it then. So what might be a lump of coal one month, might be a diamond later.

why do many established producers have 1 CDJ1000 (or similar CD turntable)

Not to start a big debate or whateva but if you're only looking to scratch, the Numark CDX is by far the best CD turntable for SCRATCHING! If you're into mixing, effects, etc. that's a different story. But I'm an ol' school head who used to be a vinyl only jockey. I've had the Pioneers...

Pro Tools 6.4 and Tascam FW1884

Yeah, in the new version, I found out you have to place the controller .dll file in a different folder than in the previous version. Got it working fine now. Thanx, though.

Pro Tools 6.4 and Tascam FW1884

Yo, I got a MBOX (PT 5.3.3) and it picked up my Tascam FW1884 cool as a controller. I just updated to PT 6.4 and I can't get it to pick up the FW1884 anymore. I got the 1884 in HUI emulation mode and it's just not showing it as one of the devices in the preferences screen. Anybody got this...

    best turntables?

I agree. If you don't find one with a pre amp, just cop a cheap mixer to run it thru.

    best turntables?

You can't go wrong w/Technics, tried and true since forever. But there are SSSSOOOOO many options now, with decks that are catered for certain styles. I'm mainly a scratch DJ so I opted for the Vestax joints, which IMO aren't the best for straight up mixing (Technics pitch control is tighter)...

Where All The Mpc Users @?

I rock the 2000xl, but with the floppy drive. I got an external SCSI HD/zip/CD-Rom from www.scsiforsamplers.com I transfer files either by saving the CPU files as .wav on either floppy or CD and open em in the MPC. You got a couple of options aside from sampling each into the MPC: 1) get...

    Top 5 mpc

Nah, only AKAI makes MPC's (Midi Production Center). Roland has the MC series (don't know what that stands for), but the only Roland product in the nature of the MPC's that are dope is the MV8000, which rivals the MPC4000. That new sp606 I don't know about. What is your primary production...

    Top 5 mpc

Akai lost its U.S. distribution, but will now be distributed by Numark. They won't be discontinued. If you are mainly a PC user and want to add a MPC to your setup, then the 1000, may be cool, but it in no way beats the 2000xl. The people I know with 1000's have a lot of problems, so check...

    CDX cd turntable??

Depends on what you need Yeah, I had the Denon 3000's (actually I still got one;interested?) I'll be straight up with you. The Denon's are a better ALL AROUND player, IMO. I used the 'scratch pad' which actually is a clear vinyl disc over a black slipmat, I didn't see the need to change to...

    How many beats a day?

Usually, I get about 3-5 beats a week done, it depends, like MarkN said, if they are sampled or not. The key is to do SOMOETHING everyday, you may not get a full beat, but you can lay down ideas to build on when you have time. This also helps that on the days you got time, you already got a...

    CDX cd turntable??

Yo Gram It ain't real hard, it just takes a minute to get use to. The CDX's have a small marker on the vinyl's label, for a cue point. Like I said, it's kinda small, so you might wanna add a longer piece of tape for a better visual. But as long as you have your cue points identical on both...

    CDX cd turntable??

The Joint! No replacement for vinyl but they the hottest CD joints out right now, period!! I use em on the road for shows and you can't tell the difference in your scratching. They the truth as far as CD turntables. I got them here, they are the ones in the middle with the Vestax 2000s...
