    naw man, not compression....in your case...the shaker is on a high frequencer, so slap a low pass filter on that piece to keep the kick but it will cut out the hiss of the shaker...then you add like some hi-lo EQ to the sample after its been filtered, maybe some reverb, depending on how you want...

    how long do you normally spend on a track

    my beats come to me in shifts. for example, i wont touch my production shit for like 4 days, then all of a sudden ill sit down and bang out like 3 or 4 good ideas, play wit em for like an hour, then leave em. i usually render just the drum loop or the main hook and keep it in my winamp playlists...

    I double up my vocals. Depending on the voice, i add some high end or low end EQ, and a soft compressor just to watch the clipping.

    Triple & Double (Fruity Loops Help Please!)

    another way is put a hit on the piano roll (hi hat for example) double click it set the length of the hit to 0 - 0 - 6 and click the checkmark put another hi hat hit double click it set the length to the same, but this time make the start time 6 ticks ahead...i.e the second hat hits on...
