    u have to put the note in the piano roll which can be accesed by pressing the button near the top right corner with piano keys on it and it says PR. take your notes out of the step sequencer (the thing with all the boxes inside and where u can find all your instruments) and put the in the piano...

    for me, i usually build my drums first cause it almost sets a structure for my song and then i add other parts of my song to that structure. but like pretty much what everybody else said. just do what feels right first.

    aight man, thanks for the advice. but i also need to kno what is used to record the sample to the computer program (is it hardware or somethin?). and also, instead of cool edit pro, could i use fl studio?

    i have mostly the same experience if not better. with a better understandin of music i usually get a deeper fellin than i would have before. i think the more u kno about how stuff is made the more u can get in the groove cause u kno what that artist was comin from.

    o-a-ksavage "What's up with that swing feature on FL? It seems like no matter how far to the right I move it, it doesn't do anything. " if u do all of ur stuff in the piano roll, then the swing feature won't affect it. the piano roll doesn't get affected by the swing.

    i've been usin fl studio for a little less than a year and i already am seein so many possibilties. this program is great for begginers with the step sequencer but there is also much more advanced tools that can improve a beat by alot.
